MADDIE SALAPOW

is a multimedia artist and teacher based in Charlottesville, VA. Her ceramic work presents fragmented patterns, carved texture, and graphic shapes that react to the form of the thrown vessel. This spontaneous, yet contemplative process illustrates the paradox of seeking order in a created chaos. Her process of working with ceramics is heavily influenced by her experience in Printmaking. She has a BFA in Printmaking, with a concentration in Illustration, and a Masters in Art Teaching from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She teaches Elementary Art in Albemarle County, and hosts several ceramic classes for kids and teens at City Clay.
