Cracked: Incubator Studio Final Exhibition

Cracked is an exhibition representing the cumulative works created by the 2022-2023 Incubator Studio Artists at McGuffey Art Center: Somé Louis, Tori Cherry, Amdane Sanda, Emmy Thacker, Lydia Jacobs, and Maddie Salapow. Working independently, yet in a shared space, the artists continued or developed their own body of work, and explored a wide variety of concepts related to their practices, including: memory, ritual, documentation, reflection, personal space, mental health, order in chaos, and a relationship to the natural world.
The works in this exhibition represent the above development of a variety of concepts over time, and present the range of numerous independent creative studies together in one place, much like the shared studio space. While it is certainly a presentation of independent works, Cracked also offers a suggestion of the year-long group studio, an arrangement of works that border on one another, and concepts that overlap between the works of independent artists – an unspoken, yet present connection.
